Billet

Billet in full length and cut to size.

Aluminium Extruders import 6063, 6061 and 6005 alloy billet from Malasia and request a test certificate before delivery  is taken.  When containers arrive at our extrusions plant the billet is offloaded and placed in allocated areas. Billet is then cut into appropriate lengths to accommodate the press selected for the size, length and quantity of the profile to be extruded.

The following technical information is given to identify alloys and to choose which alloy to use in the different applications of aluminium extrusions.

Alloy - Characteristics Table

Alloy

Characteristics

6063

Heat-treatable. Medium strength Architectural extrusions alloy. Good weldability and corrosion resistance (internal and external) Used for intricate profiles used in Window, door, signage.

6005

Medium strength. Harder to extrude. Good weldability. Used in transport, structural engineering and precision engineering.

6061

Heat-treatable. Properties very similar to 6082. Mancages to 6082. Preferable as air quenchable, and ore skips. Therefore it has less distortion problems.

6082

Heat-treatable. Medium strength. Stressed structural. Good weldability and corrosion members, bridges, cranes, resistance. roof trusses, beer barrels.
